Who we are

Six Panamanian women: some of us have paddled for years. Others just started.

Caribbean Paddlers is the women's V6 crew of Club Remo Caribe in Bocas del Toro. We train five to six days a week in open water, often starting at 5:30 in the morning.

We're a fully Panamanian crew: three paddlers from Panama City, one from Colón and two from the Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé, raised in Bocas del Toro. Two of us came up through Panamanian cayuco racing: more than twenty years competing on the water, almost ten of them in an outrigger. The other four came from volleyball, football and softball, picked up an outrigger paddle for the first time this year — and won two national titles in their first season.

The club came out of a trip to Brazil. Carolina and Angie raced the va'a world championships, came home at the end of 2025 with canoes and founded Club Remo Caribe. Less than a year later, the crew they built is going back to Brazil.
